Sri Lanka’s nationwide inflation hit a three-month high of 3.4 percent in August 2019, the central bank said. The National Consumer Price Index compiled by the Census and Statistics Department had risen 2.2 percent in July 2019, and 2.1 percent in June, the lowest in five months, down from 3.5 percent in May. The rise in the National Consumer Price Index in August was owing to the monthly increases of prices of items in both food and non-food categories, a statement said.  –  Economynext
